Film Camp 2024

On Friday 29 March, Year 12 and 13 Media Studies students gathered for Nayland’s first ever film camp.

Students were organised into groups of a mix of year levels and abilities. The groups then had until 3:30pm to create a three-minute film using the prompt ‘A bad day at ´óÐãÊÓƵ’. Each group was also given a random object (such as a spatula) to include in their film.

The morning was spent planning and storyboarding for their films and then they got straight to filming! The students did a fantastic job working together and helping by starring in each other’s films.

The afternoon was spent frantically editing with an ominous countdown on the board. All groups completed a film by the deadline and then it was time for our screening! We were all blown away by the quality of what was produced in such a short time.

The judges, Ms Ferguson and Mr McKinlay, had the difficult task of deciding the prize winners for each category.

Congratulations to Ollie Gabites, Izobella Abbot, Ella O’Regan, Keita Mckay and Kier Etherington whose film ‘Snatched’ won Best Picture and Best Editing.

Coming in close second was the film ‘Bad Day’ by Romeo Scott, Isabella Fuller, Jade Roach, Leo Jury and Lea Fischer who also won Best Cinematography.
