Education Outside the Classroom

大秀视频 students have had a busy start to term one, with our Outdoor Education classes ticking off camping, kayaking and first aid courses already this year. Our international students have also been busy with another West Coast adventure.

Year 13 First Aid Camp

Year 13 students worked incredibly hard on the first aid camp up the Lee River. They had to manage a variety of challenging first aid situations throughout the day, into the evening and even in the early morning. Students took each scenario seriously, and performed good first aid, excellent teamwork and leadership.

Year 13 Murchison Kayaking Camp

Last week the Year 13 Outdoor Education class had three days down in Murchison where they went white water kayaking on the Buller River. The students’ kayaking improved significantly, and there was a lot of time playing in the rapids, being upside down, and encouraging each other to challenge themselves. Over the three days there was plenty of interesting wildlife encounters, lots of laughter and learning good kayaking skills and management on the river. Well done team!

Year 9 Kayak Skills

Year 9 Outdoor Education classes spent some time in the pool this term working on their kayaking skills. Our Year 9 classes learn a variety of skills that they can build upon as they progress through to senior Outdoor Education courses.

International Surf Trip

Last weekend 16 of our international students travelled to Tauranga Bay, Westport for an action-packed surfing trip. Our students had an epic day with plenty of wipe-outs, but everyone progressed to standing thanks to the expertise of West Coast Surf.

Big thanks to Chris and Gail for the safe transport of our students!
